God-Built the company, the vision Part II

This is my “continued” part of God-Built the company the story.  Remember this is a series I am doing to give you more background about God-Built, where we are, and where we are going.  thanks for reading.  If you didnt read the first post with the first part of the story you can go here to read it:http://www.godbuilt.com/2013/02/23/god-built-the-company-the-vision-part-i/

In December of 2000 I decided that it was time for me to go out and actually open up “God-Built”.  I had been training out of a local gym and they allowed me to actually run my own personal training business out of their gym for a monthly rent fee which was a very sweet deal, but it was time for me to move Forward.  (I am still very thankful for that opportunity and blessing that those gym owners gave me for those years.)  So I decided to leave my current “secure” and “familiar” situation and take a huge step of faith and actually incorporate and open up the first God-Built training facility.  Now it was a tough decision and honestly a little scary but I knew it was right.  I had built up a very good client base and reputation and was literally risking it all in order to go a different route.  So during that month of December I made the decision and the “official” announcement.

Of course I had LeAnne’s total support, but I didn’t get a good or positive response from many of my family friends and acquaintances.  Now their response and “advice” against what I was doing was not with ill intent but only with concern.  They couldn’t see why in the world I would leave such an awesome situation to venture out “on my own” and take on the much higher risk.  I actually saw much opposition, and in the midst of my leaving the one situation I found out some of the people who claimed to be my friends were actually talking bad about me.  Now this did hurt a little, but I didn’t let it affect my purpose and intent to do His Will.  Also during this time I had the issue of “naming” this fitness company.  And yes I know that God had given me the vision and the “name” back 5 years earlier, but it is usually a different story once it gets down to the “nitty gritty”.  So the “advice” I was getting from friends and family was to NOT name it God-Built.  And the reason was valid and basically rested on the idea that if I put that “religious” name on my company it would turn a lot of people off and actually cause too much friction.  Well I heard this from many people, and yes I did have some moments during the whole process where I questioned whether or not to put that name, GOD-BUILT, on this new company.  I remembered that it was HIM that first gave me that name back in 1996, and I remembered that it was HIM that had brought me this far.  I knew that it was HIS Will and that He would honor it if I did name it God-Built.  So I went against what the “majority” was telling me and did what I knew in my heart was right.  In February of 2001 God-Built the company was incorporated and our doors for our first facility were opened.

Make sure and keep checking for Part 3
