Check out the boys working a “Compass Course” that Papa made up for them. We spent the weekend over at the mountain and we got to shoot bow and arrows, bb guns, 22’s, hike, do a compass course, and just have some good ole fun! It was a great weekend.
One of my good buddies (I have mentioned before) is doing the 40 Day Health Journal. He said he lost 11 lbs over the first 10 days! Now that is a big deal of course, and at the same time it is not rare because the first 7 days are a Cleanse / Fast where you restrict the quantity and focus on much higher quality foods. This is a great way to start any Nutrition / Diet Plan.
Now I want you to “see” what he had to say about this plan vs. other times that he has started “Diet Plans”. This is interesting and can be a huge determining factor for any of us in whether or not we actually “stick it out”. I am going to put into words the best I can as to what he actually said to me and my beliefs on why it is working so well for him:
1. He told me that this time it has not been as hard. He said before he would look at the diet or program as something he “had to do” and did not look forward to it.
2.This time he said he was *more “positive” toward this program. *He did it with the intentions more so to honor God and to take care of his body.
3. It seems to me he is more so looking at this as something that is truly going to help him create a new lifestyle.
4. He is not looking at it as a “law”, in which brings bondage. He is looking at this as something he “gets to do”. He does not have to be perfect, and it does not matter if he “messes up.”
See my friend has given himself a huge boost and greatly increased his likelihood of sticking this new Nutrition lifestyle out for long term now. He has chosen to “SEE” it correctly. He has chosen to stay out of “law” mindset. He has chosen to make God bigger in this vs. just doing it for himself.
Now doing anything to improve on “YOU” is usually fine and maybe great. And if you do it just for YOU, then that may be just fine too. The best comes in though when you choose to do it for that true “Bigger Purpose”, and I believe that purpose is because you get to Serve God in it. And then the other motivators like looking good, feeling good, and any other health improvements are great as SECONDARY MOTIVATORS.
