Friends and neighbors

I had the blessing today to go visit for a while with a good friend of mine.  He is one of those men that just being around him challenges me to do better.  I am always encouraged when I am around him and literally tell myself everytime that I am going to do better at being a person of honor, hard work, and integrity. 

My friend is a head football coach and made a statement today that grabbed me.  He has been coaching for a good many years now, and said that when he first got the head coaching job he knew that prayer was going to be vital for his success.  And he didnt just mean in winning games.  He said he knew he was going to have a major infuence over many young men and it was vital for him to stand up not only in his personal life, but also in front of these young men with prayer.

Again, that just flat out grabbed me and got me excited.  He saw the importance of prayer in his life and in the lives of others.  And he saw that he was going to have to have that foundation in order to allow God to do what he was going to do thru him in his coaching career.  He has been a very successful coach and I know God has used him to positively impact thousands of people.  (Thanks Coach T for all you have allowed HIM to do thru you.) 

It is so important to have that strong foundation in anything in life you go after.  And it makes it so much more powerful too when you realize it is not all about you.
