You can Help! Need your DIET TIPS!

Man did we ever have a big Memorial Day weekend.  We took off friday after lunch and headed to Chattanooga. We stayed at a hotel with a swimming pool so the kids could swim.  Then Saturday we headed to lake Winny for the day.  Man of man did the kids have a blast.  They got to ride everything they wanted, and played some games, and won some prizes.  It was a blast.  We were leaving and LeAnne said “I feel like I have been at an amusement park all day.”  And she was right.  It was Fun and it was great that the boys cousins got to come along for all the fun.  ANd then yesterday we went to “Nana’s and Papa’s” for some lake Fun!!

NUTRITION:  I have a very important question for you.  ANd this is one of those times where I am “asking you for help.”  I want to know what are 2 – 3 Nutritional keys or “diet tips” that have helped you out the most with your health at any given time.  Let me give you some examples: Drinking more water; cutting out eating after 7pm; Not going to restaurants: etc.

I am doing this for several reasons, #1 just so I can come up with a list of things that many people have helped to come up with.  Then I will compile the list and send it out to everyone.  And rremember no matter how simple or easy it may sound, if it is something that has helped you then it probably will help someone else too.  so please share and be a “helper.”  Please use this post and COMMENT with your response.

  1. 1. Pack a lunch instead of going out!

    2. Make an effort to really drink 8 cups of water a day. I think a lot of the time when I think I’m hungry, I’m really just thirsty.

  2. 1. If you go to a restaurant, drink only water and try to make it a habit everyday. 2. Also if you go to a restaurant, try splitting meals instead of gettting full meals. Most of your protions on any plate is more than you are supposed to eat anyway. My wife and I do this quite often and it is easier on the billfold too!!

  3. 1. Instead of eating ice cream or cookies for dessert at night I buy the frozen bags of mixed berries or mixed fruit at Publix and eat a big ole’ cup of those just like they are.

    2. One of my staple dinners lately has been what I call a “man salad”. Here’s what it’s got in it – baby spinach, diced up peppers and onions, bacon or chicken, sliced up boiled egg, walnuts, sun dried tomatoes, grated cheese, banana peppers, and an avacado. For the dressing I put in two spoofuls of plain greek yogurt and about three spoonfuls of salsa and mix it up.

    3. Since I workout in the morning I’ve found that a good breakfast for me has been two boiled eggs and a protein shake. Put your boiled eggs in a ziplock bag with Spike seasoning (Publix) and shake it up. Gives the eggs good flavor. Quick and simple.

  4. 1. Use olive oil to replace butter in any recipe. Or if the recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, use 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 olive oil just to cut down on fat.

    2. Drink almond milk instead of regular milk. (vanilla and chocolate)

    3. Make your own oat meal with rolled oats instead of store bought.

  5. 1. Just say no to bread, pasta and sugar.

    2. Eat lots of meat, eggs, veggies and some fruit.

    3. Oh and did I mention butter? Yummy butter. Don’t be afraid of good fat. It is very satisfying.
