Midnight Snacks. Healthy or Not?

Midnight Snacks, as the boys call them, are some of the most important meals you can have.  One of the main reasons for this is because this is the time, late at night, when many people claim to have the biggest problems with “eating poorly”.  I hear it all the time, “KJ, I do great all day long with my nutrition, then at night I get the “munchies” for all the wrong stuff.”

First off, one of the best remedies for this is to severly limit how much of the “wrong stuff” you have at your house.   Next, the best thing to do is to plan ahead and have the “right stuff” at your house on hand.  Here are some of the better options I recommend for those Midnight Snacks:

Nut Butter (peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, almond butter) and fruit **like in the pic!

Whole organic Yogurt

Cliff Mojo, C:lif Builder, Kind, or Zone Nutrition Bars

Meat and Veggies

Protein shake

If you are going to eat late at night, then fine.  And actually eating at night can have some very good health benefits.  You can argue either way, but the reality is that many are going to so they, you and me, might as well be prepared if we are one of the “they”.  Choose healthier foods that dont cause rapid blood sugar rises and falls.  And eat small portions.  Easy, so GET ON IT DOG’ON IT!
